Volunteer Code of Conduct

As a volunteer, your actions and attitude directly impact the individuals and communities we serve. To create a positive and meaningful experience, all volunteers are expected to adhere to the following principles:

  1. Signed-up and Unable to Keep Your Commitment

    • If you are unable to keep your commitment to the outreach activity that you signed up for, please cancel to allow the opportunity for others to volunteer their time.

  2. Respect and Dignity

    • Treat everyone you serve with kindness, courtesy, and respect.

    • Recognize the dignity of every individual, regardless of their circumstances, and avoid any form of discrimination or judgment.

  3. Confidentiality

    • Maintain the privacy of individuals you assist by not sharing personal or sensitive information outside of your volunteering duties.

  4. Professionalism

    • Arrive on time, ready to serve, and complete your assigned responsibilities with integrity and accountability.

    • Dress appropriately for the activity and setting, ensuring your appearance is respectful and suitable for the role.

  5. Compassion and Empathy

    • Approach every interaction with understanding, patience, and a willingness to listen.

    • Strive to uplift and support those in need through your words and actions.

  6. Safety and Boundaries

    • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment by following all safety guidelines and respecting personal boundaries.

    • Report any concerns or incidents to the appropriate program leaders immediately.

  7. Dependability and Commitment

    • Honor your commitments by attending scheduled activities or notifying the team in advance if you are unable to attend by cancelling your assigned spot.  This will allow another person to be our service.

    • Understand that reliability is crucial to maintaining trust and continuity in our outreach efforts.

  8. Collaboration and Teamwork

    • Work collaboratively with fellow volunteers, staff, and community members to achieve our shared goals.

    • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a supportive and inclusive team environment.

  9. Cultural Sensitivity

    • Be mindful and respectful of cultural differences, adapting your approach to ensure everyone feels valued and understood.

  10. Prohibited Behavior

    • Avoid actions such as verbal or physical abuse, harassment, or engaging in behavior that could harm others.

    • Do not promote personal beliefs, political views, or solicit donations during volunteer activities unless explicitly approved by the organization.

  11. Commitment to Growth

  • Be open to feedback and continuously seek ways to improve your service.

  • Represent the organization positively, both during activities and in the broader community.
